ABOUT ILUKA ILAI

iluka ilai was born from my love for creating and my deep connection to culture. After having my sons, I knew I wanted to build something that allowed me to be present with them, something that would give me space to watch them grow while also becoming a way for them to learn about who they are and where they come from.

The name iluka ilai comes from my sons names, they are my biggest inspiration so I dedicate this brand to my love for them.

Through iluka ilai, I share my own stories and those of the people who walk beside me. It’s more than just art - it’s a way to reconnect with land and country and to carry culture forward. My hope is that iluka ilai becomes a space where others can feel that connection too, and where culture and creativity come together.

MEET THE ARTIST

My name is Tehya Rankine and I’m a Ngarrindjeri Tangane mimini, artist, weaver, and mama.

Creating has always been a part of who I am, and combining my love for culture and art naturally led me to iluka ilai.

Becoming a mama helped me find my purpose, not just in raising my son, but in walking this path as an artist. I’ve always felt a deep connection to the ocean and country, something I later understood as my miwi - our inner spiritual compass that ties us to land, waters, each other, and all living things.

Through my work, I hope to help others reconnect with their own miwi, and feel the strength, love, and belonging that comes from culture and creation.
